Advanced Age Pension Estimator
Work through your income and assets the way Services Australia assesses them - item by item - and see your estimated Age Pension with every step of the calculation shown. Prefer a quicker answer? Use the simple estimator.
Rates: 1 July – 19 September 2026About you
Two details set every threshold in the calculation: whether you're single or a couple, and whether you own your home.
For couples, enter combined amounts for both of you throughout. The result is the combined pension for the couple.
Your principal home isn't counted as an asset, but homeowners have lower asset limits than non-homeowners.
How the assessment works. Services Australia runs two tests on everything you enter here: an assets test (what you own) and an income test (what you earn, plus income "deemed" from your financial assets). Each test produces a pension amount - and you're paid the lower of the two.
This estimator walks the same path as their assessment: your income, your superannuation, your financial assets, your other assets, and what's excluded - then shows both tests in full.
Income
Enter your gross assessable income per fortnight, before tax. Leave anything that doesn't apply at zero. Don't enter interest or investment earnings here - income from financial assets is calculated automatically by deeming in a later step.
Income from defined benefit pensions and income streams is entered in the next step, and deemed income is added automatically at the end.
Superannuation & income streams
Different retirement products are assessed in different ways. Balance-based products join the deeming pool; the others are assessed on the income and asset values Services Australia determines for them.
Superannuation of a person under Age Pension age is generally not assessed - only include balances that Services Australia would assess. Defined benefit deductible amounts and lifetime income stream concessions can change what's assessable; enter the assessable figures for your product.
Financial assets
These count in the assets test and also generate "deemed" income for the income test, regardless of what they actually earn. Your superannuation balances from the previous step are included automatically.
Other assets
These count in the assets test but are not deemed. Use what you'd get if you sold the item today (market value), not the replacement or insured value - most people over-estimate here.
Excluded & special-treatment assets
These are generally not counted by the calculator. You can record them here for completeness - they are never added to your totals - but the qualifications matter, so check your situation against the guidance.
Special rules can apply to all of these - extended land use, granny flat interests, funeral bond limits, and exemptions that require approval. If any apply to you, speak to Services Australia or its free Financial Information Service.

A common worry is that earning more means going backwards. It doesn't: above the free area the pension reduces by 50 cents per extra dollar, so each extra dollar of income still leaves you about 50 cents ahead until the pension cuts out. The solid line is your income including pension; the dashed line is your income on its own.

The rates behind this estimate
All figures from the Services Australia Guide to Australian Government Payments, 1 July – 19 September 2026 edition. Rates are indexed in March and September, and thresholds in July.
This is a guide only, not financial advice. This calculator illustrates how the Age Pension income and assets tests work. It does not assess your eligibility (such as Age Pension age or residence rules) and does not model the Work Bonus, Rent Assistance, transitional rates, overseas rates, blind pension provisions, defined benefit deductible amounts, lifetime income stream concessions, or other special rules that may change your entitlement.
Your actual entitlement can only be determined by Services Australia. Before making decisions, contact Services Australia (including its free Financial Information Service) or a licensed financial adviser.
